President Ike'S Cake(Over 50 Years Old - 1940) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. cocoa
    1/2 c. boiling water
    3 egg yolks
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. sour milk
    3 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar together.
    Dissolve cocoa in boiling water.
    Mix until smooth.
    Cool.
    Add egg yolks and vanilla to sugar and butter mixture well.
    Add cooled cocoa solution.
    Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
    Have sour milk at room temperature.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk in thirds. Beat until smooth after each addition.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
