Polka Daters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. chopped dates (8 oz. pkg.)
    1 c. hot water
    1 c. butter
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    6 oz. pkg. chocolate morsels
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix chopped dates and hot water.
    Cool.
    Beat until creamy the soft butter, sugar and eggs.
    Sift together and stir in flour and baking soda gradually.
    Stir in date mixture the vanilla and half of chocolate morsels.
    Spread in a 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.
    Top with half chocolate morsels and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for about 30 minutes.
    Makes about 30 bars.
