Pumpkin Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
4 eggs
2/3 c. water
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cloves
2/3 c. raisins or dates, chopped fine (dates preferred)
2 2/3 c. sugar
1 can pumpkin (1 lb.)
3 1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 nut meats, broken
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly; add eggs, pumpkin and water.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices; add to pumpkin mixture.
Stir in nuts, raisins and dates.
Pour into two 2-quart loaf pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
Three (1 pound) coffee cans may be used for baking.
