Fruit Bites - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. slivered blanched almonds
    1 c. finely snipped pitted dates
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg white, unbeaten
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    glazed cherries, halved
Preparation
    Make a few days before serving.
    Combine almonds, dates, sugar, egg whites and vanilla.
    Refrigerate 1 hour.
    Heat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Shape mixture into balls and top with cherry half.
    Bake on greased cookie sheet 15 to 20 minutes.
    Let stand 3 minutes. Store tightly covered.
    Makes about 2 dozen.
