Ingredients

1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. cold water
small piece cinnamon
3 or 4 cloves
Preparation

Boil the ingredients together for 10 minutes.
Boil young beets until tender; skin and cover with the liquid.
Let beets stand in this liquid for several days.
Remove and add whole hard-cooked, shelled eggs to the liquid.
Let pickle for 2 days before using.
