Velvet Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 c. water
    1 rounded tsp. soda dissolved in 1 Tbsp. boiling water
    2 1/2 sq. chocolate
    2 c. cake flour (measure flour after sifted, sift at least 3 times)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten eggs then melted chocolate.
    Beat after each.
    Mix alternately flour and water and beat after each addition.
    Then add the dissolved soda last.
    Bake in two 9-inch layer pans at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
