Old Virginia Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. self-rising corn meal
    3 eggs, separated
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Grease 2-quart baking dish; set aside. Pour water over corn meal in bowl; stir until slightly cool.
    Beat egg yolks with electric mixer until lemon colored.
    Stir egg yolks and butter into corn meal; blend well.
    Stir in buttermilk and sugar.
    Beat egg whites in separate bowl until soft peaks form. Fold egg whites into corn meal mixture until blended.
    Pour into prepared baking dish.
    Bake 45 to 50 minutes.
    Serve hot with butter.
