Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. butter
6 apples, peeled and quartered
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
Preparation

Mix first 5 ingredients and cook for 5 minutes.
Mix the flour, salt and baking powder.
Cut shortening into the flour mixture with a pastry cutter.
Mix in milk with fork.
Divide into 6 pieces.
Roll out on floured wax paper.
Fill with 1 apple, dotted with butter and a small amount of cinnamon and nutmeg. Fold dough over apples and put into a glass baking dish.
Pour sugar mixture over all dumplings and sprinkle each with a small amount of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
