Vanilla Sauce For Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. butter
    2 Tbsp. vanilla or 2 Tbsp. lemon juice with rind or 2 Tbsp. nutmeg
Preparation
    Mix sugar and cornstarch in saucepan.
    Gradually stir in water.
    Boil 1 minute stirring constantly.
    Stir in butter and flavoring.
    Makes 2 cups.
