Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
pinch of salt
1 c. sour milk
1 c. raisins or dates or both
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
flour
Preparation

Mix all ingredients together.
Add enough flour to make it stiff enough to drop from a spoon (3 1/2 cups or more).
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 minutes.
