Scottish Scones(This Recipe Is From Early Nova Scotia) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    3/4 c. butter
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. raisins
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Cut in shortening with a pie dough blender.
    In separate bowl, combine eggs, milk and vanilla. Stir liquid mixture into dry ingredients until you have a soft dough.
    Add raisins.
    Roll out dough on a floured board to 1 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cut in rounds with a glass or cookie cutter. Place on greased baking sheet.
    Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Serve hot with butter and jam.
