Swedish Heirloom Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1 c. sifted powdered sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. water
    1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
    1 1/4 c. ground almonds
    additional powdered sugar
Preparation
    Beat shortening and butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and salt. Mix well. Stir in flour. Add water, vanilla and almonds, stirring well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten. Bake at 325\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until firm and lightly browned. Dredge warm cookies in additional powdered sugar. Yield: 4 dozen.
