Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. butter
2 eggs, beaten
3 Tbsp. cold water
Preparation

Mix flour, sugar, allspice and cinnamon.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in eggs and water, mixing well. Dough will be stiff.
Chill until you can handle dough, about 1 hour.
Roll onto lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut out with desired cookie cutters.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 400\u00b0 for 7 to 8 minutes or until edges are light brown.
Cool.
Decorate as desired with confectioners sugar icing, colored sugar or candied fruits.
Makes about 9 dozen cookies.
