Seed Cake For Birds - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    bird seed
    raisins or currants
    sunflower seeds
    hen scratch
    chopped or whole peanuts
    oatmeal
    cooked or uncooked rice
    dry cake scraps
Preparation
Pour hot, melted suet over the mixture until it is covered and put aside to set.
Stir when it begins to harden and the seeds will be nicely distributed.
Peanut butter can be stirred into the fat before pouring over the seeds.
Turn out onto a tray when ready to use.
This can also be prepared in half a coconut shell and hung from a tree.
Several of these cakes can be made at one time and kept refrigerated or frozen until used.
Seed eating birds (which includes most small birds around during the winter) will be attracted to this.
Insect and fruit eaters, such as mockingbirds, like a cake made only with raisins and suet.
