Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 slices bacon, diced
    2 medium onion, diced
    4 c. potatoes, diced
    3 c. water or clam juice
    4 c. milk
    1 (51 oz.) can chopped clams
    1/4 lb. butter
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Fry bacon and set aside to drain.
    Pour off bacon fat.
    Add onions to pan and saute until translucent.
    Add potatoes and water or clam juice.
    Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
    Add milk, clams with juice, salt and pepper.
    Simmer for 10 minutes (do not boil).
    Add butter just prior to serving. Garnish with crumbled bacon.
