Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. dates, cut up
1 c. nutmeats
1 tsp. soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Preparation

Mix first 4 ingredients and let stand.
Add remaining ingredients.
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 35 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
