Ingredients

3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
pinch of salt
1/2 c. sour cream
1 lb. pitted dates
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg and beat well.
Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with sour cream to egg mixture.
Mix well.
Spread teaspoon of dough on greased cookie sheet to form the cookie.
Flatten 1/2 of date and put on dough. Cover with another small bit of dough.
Spread to cover.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Cover with frosting.
