Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. maple flavoring
1 c. pecan halves
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg (whole)
1 egg white
Preparation

Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Cream shortening.
Add flavorings.
Add dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly. Arrange pecan halves in groups of 3 on greased baking sheet to resemble head and hind legs.
Mold teaspoons of dough into balls. Dip bottoms in egg white and press onto pecans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Cool and frost tops.
