Apricot Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dried apricots, chopped
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg, well beaten
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. orange juice
    2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Soak dried apricots for 20 minutes.
    Cream together 1 cup of sugar, shortening and egg.
    Stir in 1/4 cup sugar and orange juice.
    Add dry ingredients.
    Blend well; drain apricots.
    Add with nuts to batter.
    Bake in greased and floured loaf pan for 65 minutes in preheated 350\u00b0 oven.
    This bread keeps well.
