Pecan Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. hot water
    1 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine soda and water; mix well.
    Cream the butter or margarine; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beating well.
    Stir in soda mixture and vanilla.
    Add flour, beating until blended.
    Stir in pecans.
    Shape into 2 rolls (1 1/4-inches in diameter).
    Wrap in wax paper and chill until firm.
    Unwrap rolls, cut into 1/4-inch slices and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
