Ingredients

2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 c. butter or oleo
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
Preparation

Sift together dry ingredients.
With electric mixer, cream together butter and shortening.
Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Beat in vanilla and egg.
Add flour and mixture and beat until smooth.
Blend in milk.
Drop by teaspoon onto greased baking sheet.
Flatten with bottom of glass dipped into sugar. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 12 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Makes 5 1/2 dozen 2-inch cookies.
