Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. each: baking soda and baking powder
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. ground coconut
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugars in large bowl until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Add dry ingredients gradually to creamed ingredients.
Mix well.
Fold in oatmeal and coconut.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 8 dozen.
