Ingredients

2 c. shortening
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. water
3 c. quick-cook oats
20 candy orange slices, chopped
Preparation

Cream shortening in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugars, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer.
Add eggs, beating well.
Combine flour, soda and baking powder.
Add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Stir in water, oats, coconut and candy. Chill dough for 1 hour.
Drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes or until brown.
Yield:
16 dozen.
