Cannelon Of Beef And Pork - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 lb. ground fresh pork (fine)
    3 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. onion, finely chopped
    2 to 3 c. stale bread
    3 to 4 bay leaves
    crumbled pepper
    1 c. cold water
Preparation
    Soak bread in cold water until soft.
    Drain bread, pressing out all the water.
    Mix ingredients thoroughly together.
    If desired, an egg may be added.
    Shape as a loaf.
    Place on oiled rack in a roasting pan.
    Lay 2/3 strips of bacon across the top. Sear 20 to 25 minutes at 475\u00b0 to 500\u00b0, then cover and bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours at 400\u00b0.
