Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried lentils
    1 soup bone
    2 1/2 qt. water
    2 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 c. diced carrots
    1 c. diced celery
    4 garlic cloves, crushed
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Rinse lentils in cold water; drain.
    In heavy 5-quart Dutch oven, combine lentils and remaining ingredients.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat.
    Lower heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Remove bone; cut meat from bone and return meat to soup.
