White Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 pkg. dry yeast or 1 yeast cake
    1/2 c. warm water
    1/2 c. sugar
    4 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. shortening
    5 c. water
    16 to 18 c. flour
Preparation
    Sprinkle yeast into warm water; stir until dissolved.
    Combine sugar, salt, water and shortening.
    Stir in 8 cups flour.
    Add yeast and enough (8 to 10 cups) of flour to make stiff dough that leaves the bowl when stirred.
    Knead for 5 to 10 minutes until smooth.
    Place in greased bowl; cover and let rise until double, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Knead dough back and allow to rise again. When dough has doubled, bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Makes around 4 loaves.
