Grammpa'S Scottish Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can tomatoes
    2 medium, chopped onions
    1/4 to 1/2 lb. American cheese
    2 Tbsp. butter
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Chop onions and boil until tender in small amount of water. Mash tomatoes with juice and add to onions and water; mix.
    Bring to low simmer and add American cheese until it breaks into small particles throughout.
    Leftovers will thicken in refrigerator and are fabulous eaten warmed over buttered toast.
