David Payne'S Strawberry Bowl(Sparkling Wine Punch) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. strawberries, sliced
    1 c. sugar
    750 ml. white wine
    1 c. \"sparkle\" (ginger ale or champagne)
    3 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    2 oz. Gran Marnier (or any orange flavored liqueur)
Preparation
    Layer berries and sugar; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
    (Add Gran Marnier during layering if desired.)
    Add wine and lemon juice; refrigerate 1 to 2 hours.
    Add \"sparkle\" and serve.
