Ingredients

3/4 c. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
3 slightly beaten egg yolks (save whites)
5 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

In saucepan, combine sugar, salt and cornstarch.
Gradually add milk.
Stir while cooking over medium heat until bubbly, then cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Stir small amount of the hot mixture into egg yolks, then return to hot mixture.
Cook 2 more minutes while stirring.
Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
Pour into baked pie shell and spread with meringue and bake 12 to 15 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven until meringue is golden brown.
