Candied Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 cucumbers (4-5 inches long)
    1 qt. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. pickling spice
    2 Tbsp. pickling salt
Preparation
    DAY 1:
    Wash cucumbers and place in gallon jar or crock. Cover with boiling water.
    Let stand 24 hours.
    DAY 2: Drain; cover with boiling water.
    Repeat for days 3 and 4.
    DAY 5:
    Cut cucumbers into 1/4 inch slices.
    Boil vinegar, sugar, salt and spices (which have been put into a cheesecloth bag) together for 5 minutes.
    Pour over slices and let stand 24 hours.
    DAY 6:
    Drain syrup into sauce pan and bring to boil.
    Pour over slices.
    DAY 7: Repeat day 6.
    DAY 8:
    Drain and heat syrup and spice bag to a boil.
    Add cucumber slices and bring to a boil again.
    Pack in clean sterile jars and seal with new lids.
