Cabbage And Bacon Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 thick slices bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 medium size cabbage, coarsely shredded
    2 tsp. paprika
    2 c. chicken broth
    1 (14 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
    1/4 c. white raisins
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In Dutch oven or kettle, fry bacon until lightly brown. Add onion and garlic and cook until bacon is brown and onion is tender. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until cabbage is tender, covered to prevent evaporation. Allow to rest 10 to 15 minutes. Serve with croutons or cornbread squares or muffins. Serves 4.
