Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. dry mixed beans
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    1 small purple onion, chopped
    1 can tomato and green chilies
    1 can Mexicorn
    salt, pepper, onion powder and ground red pepper to taste
    ham
Preparation
    In crock-pot, combine all ingredients, except ham, with 2 quarts water. Mix well. Then cover top completely with one layer of ham. Cook on high for 7 hours, stirring once or twice. Remove ham fat and bone before serving. It's great with cornbread.
