Sweet Potato Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted self-rising flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. mace
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 c. mashed, cooked sweet potato
    3 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil
    6 pecan halves
Preparation
    Grease a 4 1/2 x 8 1/2-inch loaf pan.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. Into medium-size mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, and mace.
    Stir in chopped pecans.
    Blend together eggs, sweet potato, milk and shortening.
    Add liquid all at once to flour mixture, stirring until blended.
    Turn into pan.
    Press pecan halves over top of batter to form design.
    Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out clean.
    Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes before removing from pan.
    Cool completely before slicing.
