Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. dates, chopped
    2 c. boiling water
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 c. nuts, chopped fine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine dates, boiling water and soda.
    Let cool.
    Add other ingredients and mix well.
    Grease and flour 5 (16 ounce) cans. Fill half full. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour or until done.
    Keeps for weeks in the refrigerator and freezes beautifully.
    Yields 5 loaves.
