California Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1 c. chopped onion
4 c. freshly cooked rice
2 c. dairy sour cream
1 c. creamed cottage cheese
1 large bay leaf, crushed
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
3 (4 oz.) cans chopped green chilies
2 c. grated sharp natural Cheddar cheese
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Lightly grease 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
In hot butter in large skillet, saute onion until golden. Remove from heat.
Stir in hot rice, sour cream, cottage cheese, bay leaf, salt and pepper; toss lightly to mix well.
Layer half the rice mixture in bottom of baking dish, then half of chilies. Sprinkle with half of Cheddar cheese.
Repeat.
Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
