Cornmeal Mush - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. cornmeal
    1 c. cold water
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil in top of double boiler.
    Add salt; stir in cornmeal mixed well with cold water.
    Cook; stir constantly until mixture is thick.
    Place over boiling water.
    Cover; cook for 30 minutes.
    Stir occasionally.
    Pour into loaf pan to cool; slice for fried mush.
    Can be used as a cereal.
    While still warm, slice thin; fry slices in oil or lard.
    When brown, put them on plate and serve with butter and syrup.
