Maraschino Cherry Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. cornstarch
    pinch of salt
    2 Tbsp. oleo
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 2/3 c. water
    1/3 c. canned milk
    2/3 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks (save whites for meringue)
    2 1/4 oz. maraschino cherries (juice and all)
    1 unbaked pie crust
Preparation
    Mix cornstarch, sugar, salt and egg yolks in a pan.
    Mix water, milk and cherry juice.
    Mix with first 4 ingredients.
    Beat together.
    Cook in heavy saucepan until thickened.
    Add chopped cherries, oleo and vanilla.
    Pour into unbaked pie shell.
    Top with meringue and bake until meringue is lightly browned.
