Linzer Augen Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter or margarine
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 tsp. almond extract
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Mix ingredients together in bowl; chill for 1 hour.
    Remove; shape into large or small marble-size balls in the palm of your hands.
    Place on lightly greased baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
    Make a depression in each with your index finger, fill with a bit of thick jam (apricot, plum or raspberry).
    Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for about 8 minutes or until delicately browned. Remove from sheet while still warm.
    Cool (on racks for best results), then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
    Store in airtight containers; keep in cool place.
    Flavor, like people improves with aging!
