Green Chile Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean pork shoulder, cut 1/4-inch cubes
    2 Tbsp. each: flour and shortening
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, coarsely chopped
    2 (7 oz.) cans diced green chiles
    1/4 tsp. oregano
    2 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. water
    jalapeno peppers*
Preparation
    Melt shortening in large deep skillet.
    Brown floured meat thoroughly.
    Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is soft.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Simmer, covered 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Remove cover.
    Simmer, uncovered, 5 to 10 minutes to desired consistency.
    Serves 4 to 6.
