Ingredients

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. Crisco (do not use butter)
1 well-beaten egg
2 c. flour (add last)
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 bag chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Beat sugars with Crisco; add egg.
Add soda, cream of tartar, salt and vanilla, then add flour.
Beating with the mixer is what makes these cookies light and tender.
Mix chips and walnuts in by hand.
Roll in balls (size of walnuts).
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 10 minutes.
