Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. cane molasses
1/2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Mix the first 5 ingredients well.
Sift the remaining ingredients; add to first mixture.
Mix thoroughly; chill dough. Roll dough into balls; roll in sugar.
Add cinnamon to sugar, if you please.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Do not press sugared balls down, as they will puff up, then become flat with a crinkly top.
