Minnesota Wild Rice Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. wild rice
    3/4 c. celery, chopped
    3/4 c. flour
    3/4 c. ham, chopped
    3 cans chicken broth
    1 qt. or less half and half (if you like it rich) or 1 qt. or less milk
    salt and pepper to taste
    3/4 c. carrots, chopped
    3/4 c. onion, chopped
    1/2 c. margarine
    3 to 4 oz. slivered almonds
    3 cans water
Preparation
    Wash rice well and drain.
    Cook rice in chicken broth and water for approximately 45 minutes.
    While rice is cooking, saute vegetables in margarine until transparent.
    Add flour and stir until thickened.
    Add rice and chicken stock to vegetables, stirring constantly.
    Add seasonings, ham, almonds and cream or milk.
    Heat.
