Irish Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. raisins
    1 egg, beaten in 1 c. milk
Preparation
    Pour hot water over raisins and drain.
    Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and soda into bowl.
    Add shortening and blend well into dry ingredients.
    Add sugar and raisins.
    Add egg and milk.
    Reserve 1 tablespoon milk mixture and brush on top of bread before baking. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
