Herbed Lentils And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. chicken broth or vegetable stock
    3/4 c. dry lentils
    2 large onions, coarsely chopped
    1/2 c. uncooked brown rice (not instant)
    1/2 tsp. dried basil
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 garlic clove, minced
    grinding of black pepper
    4 oz. natural Swiss cheese, shredded or handful of sunflower kernels
Preparation
    Combine the chicken broth, lentils, onions, brown rice, basil, salt, oregano, thyme, garlic and black pepper in a large saucepan with tight-fitting lid.
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer about 45 minutes or until the lentils and rice are tender, the liquid absorbed.
    Stir in cheese last 10 minutes of cooking.
