Essie'S Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. soft butter or margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    2 1/2 c. drained raspberries, blueberries or sliced peaches (No. 2 can)
    1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. fruit juice
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Sift flour together with baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat until smooth.
    Pour into greased loaf pan (10 x 5 x 3-inch) or 1 1/2-quart casserole.
    Spoon drained fruit over batter. Combine 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sugar and fruit juice; pour over fruit and batter.
    Bake 45 to 50 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven.
    Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
    Serves 6.
