Gertrude'S Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. buttermilk
    1 c. brown sugar
    6 c. whole wheat flour
    4 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. salt
    4 c. raisins
    1 c. cornmeal
    1 c. flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 egg
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. soft shortening
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add remaining ingredients and beat 1 minute.
    I use a No. 5 iron skillet (which, of course, is never really washed!) and bake at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
