French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large Spanish onions, sliced
    2 Tbsp. butter
    4 to 5 beef bouillon cubes
    sliced cheese (Provolone or Swiss)
    pepper to taste
    stale French bread (optional)
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter until translucent.
    In pot, add 5 cups water, bouillon cubes and onions.
    Simmer 1 hour.
