Hearty Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. smoked ham hocks
    1 (1 lb.) pkg. lentils
    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, crushed
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 sliced carrots
    1 head (6 c.) cabbage, coarsely chopped
    2 c. sliced celery
    1/2 c. chopped parsley
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 tsp. basil
    2 bay leaves
    2 qt. water
Preparation
    In large kettle, combine all ingredients.
    Bring to a boil. Cover; simmer 3 to 4 hours.
    Remove ham hocks, cut meat off bones and return meat to soup.
    Makes 8 servings.
