Mom'S Apple Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 c. finely chopped apples*
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0. Melt butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Heat water and sugar until sugar melts. Cut shortening in flour. Add milk and roll out dough on a floured board. Shape into a large rectangle. Sprinkle apples and cinnamon evenly over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll. Slice dough into about 16 slices, 1/2-inch thick. Place in a pan with melted butter. Pour sugar syrup around rolls. They absorb all the liquid. Bake 55 to 60 minutes.
