Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (3 lb.) chicken
    water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/3 c. milk
Preparation
    Cut chicken into pieces.
    Cover with water and add 1 teaspoon salt.
    Cover and simmer until tender.
    Remove meat from bones. Sift flour with baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt; cut in shortening.
    Add milk and mix.
    Turn out on lightly floured board and knead for 2 or 3 minutes.
    Roll to 1/8-inch thickness and cut into 1 x 4-inch strips.
    Add chicken broth to pan to make 4 cups. Bring to a boil and add dumplings.
    Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Add chicken and heat.
